Children’s Resources
Welcome to St. Paul’s! We’re thrilled to have you and your family with us.
At St. Paul’s, we believe that worship is for all ages and is central to growing in faith as a community. Sometimes, the words and actions in our services might feel unfamiliar or even a little strange—and that’s perfectly okay! Think of church as a place where we’re all learning a new language of faith, together. With time and practice, things will start to feel more comfortable, and even the grownups are learning something new every Sunday.
As a community, the adults at St. Paul’s are committed to supporting your child’s faith journey. This commitment is something we reaffirm every time someone is baptized. We strive to be role models for how to love both God and neighbor, and we encourage curiosity and questions along the way. We’re here to help you and your children discover and share experiences of God’s love.
At St Paul’s we make a distinction between first order and second order theology.
First order theology is the experience of God in the prayers and Sunday worship. This takes place as we participate in the liturgy. Liturgy is the first and most foundational occasion for Christian spiritual formation.
Extending from this is what we call second order theology. This is reflection upon our experience of first order theological experiences in worship.
We invite children and young adults on Sunday mornings to be formed through the experience of words, actions, gestures, movements, music, artifacts, and architecture. Following from this we invite children and youth to come to our other regular youth events to reflect on their experience of worship with other youth and adults.
We can’t wait to walk this spiritual journey with you and your family!
